Citytrip-tip: The Corendon College Hotel Amsterdam

This weekend I kidnapped my bloggerbestie Jolien, That girl with her blog, to Amsterdam!
On the 25th of February it was our one year friendversary and I wanted to surprise her because she means so much to me! ❤ She had no clue what was going on and it really was a surprise when I rang her doorbell on Friday morning 😀 #missionaccomplished

Thanks to Corendon Hotels we were able to stay at The College Hotel! #luckyus
When we arrived we immediately knew that this wasn’t an ordinary hotel!
This building is amazing and it’s right near the very trendy neighborhood “De Pijp”

I must say the staff at this hotel is the most friendly staff I’ve ever encountered in a hotel, they were so helpful and professional. Even when they had to explain several times which public transport we should take to get to where we wanted to go 😀 (I swear it’s really not that easy to find your way around!) We were originally offered a Superior Room but when we checked in we got an upgrade to a Junior Suite! (OMG!) Our room was on the 2nd floor, and our jaws dropped when we entered it. So beautiful and luxurious, wow! (Gallery: click on a picture to enlarge)

After checking in to our room we went to explore the city center, which is just 10-15 minutes away with public transport. Besides shopping (OOPS 😀 ) we also did some touristy stuff like posing on one of the canal bridges 😀 (Gallery: click on a picture to enlarge)

For dinner we went to Park restaurant, this is actually a kind of funny story! On Thursday Jolien tagged me on facebook in the comments of an article about this restaurant saying “We must go there some time!”. Not knowing we would go to Amsterdam the next day off course! I went to their website and was able to book us a table for dinner on Friday 😀 And it was worth it! The location is so beautiful and the food was really good. (Gallery: click on a picture to enlarge)

After a long day of enjoying Amsterdam (= shopping and eating 😀 ) It was time to head back to the hotel! We enjoyed relaxing in our beautiful room, but were so tired that we didn’t even get trough a netflix movie 😀 (Damn, we’re getting old I tell you!)
On Saturday we slept in and woke up hungry 😉 #nevernoteating
So we got ready to attack the breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant. Honestly this really was the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had! Everything was so delicious, and above all that’s on the buffet you could order eggs in any way you like them! Several juices, coffee & thee, all kinds of bread and pastry, donuts,… Get ready to start drooling… 😉 (Gallery: click on a picture to enlarge)

After breakfast we headed back to the city, and enjoyed another lovely day in Amsterdam!
Thank you so much Corendon Hotels & The College Hotel we had an amazing stay, and I would recommend it to anyone! ❤

city crush: Eindhoven

I fell in love last weekend… with Eindhoven!
Me and my blogger-bff Jolien from That Girl With Her Blog were invited to a blogger-trip to discover Eindhoven.
I visit Eindhoven a few times a year, but I only ever go to Primark (and of course afterwards Mc Donalds #guiltypleasure). So I was really excited to really get to know this city, since it’s only a one hour drive from where I live and I literally knew nothing about it.
I can honestly say: this is a city you must visit! No, not for Primark. But for so many other reasons. Starting off with the Strijp-S area, which is located next to the city center.
If you ask me Strijp-S is the place to be for trendy young people who love food, fashion, design and an all-round urban atmosphere. This upcoming area offers everything you need and so much more!

I would recommend you to stay for at least a day or two, since there’s so much to discover. The Blue Collar Hotel is located at the Strijp-S area and is the perfect starting point to go out and explore.
The hotel targets people who love the urban Strijp-S vibe, basic rooms with high ceilings and a simple yet trendy design.
img_20172They serve delicious food and drinks at the bar, and you can have breakfast with an amazing view at the top floor.

For the foodies amongst us the indoor foodmarket Vershal het Veem is definitely worth a visit. They literally have it all. From a bakery to a pastryshop, to spices, nuts, wine, Italian specialties or just a delicious cup of coffee or tea. All from local entrepeneurs who get a chance to sell their products at the foodmarket. It’s even open on Sundays!
For a very special ice cream or chocolate you go to Intelligentia ICE. The owner Björn runs this place with heart and soul and always finds a way to surprise his customers by inventing new ice cream flavors no one else would ever think of. For example: Fristi, a popular children’s drink, or baby food (yes this is actually a flavor). The chocolates are equally special! Have you ever tried a soy sauce – sesame-chili chocolate? No? well, then you should! 🙂

If you don’t want to have breakfast in your hotel or you want to have a lunch I would say go to bagel & juice. They have all sorts of yummie bagels and special fruit/vegetable juices.

If you’re looking for a beautiful restaurant with an amazing luxurious interior Wynwood is the place to go. I think they serve some good wine there too 😉Shopping time? Go and take a look at Studio Ruig. This shop looks a-ma-zing! The interior design, the monochrome colours sometimes mixed with a hint of pink… I LOVE IT!

GO in to Urban Shopper. This is a big indoor area where small businesses can rent a space and express their creativity. Furniture, home decoration, bags & jewelry,…  you can even customize your favorite pair of sneakers at Unickz!

If you decide to go into the city center, which is also a must-do I would recommend lunch at De Vooruitgang. If it wasn’t for the delicious food it would be for the amazing interior and atmosphere. Luckily they have both 😉

Up for some culture? Make sure to visit the Vanabbe Museum. This is not your ordinary (boring) museum! This is an interactive museum with contemporary art and guest exhibitions.
So many restaurants in the city center that I’m sure are worth a visit, but if I can choose I would take you to Usine. This location is just amazing! And there’s even a little pastry shop inside! You can take a pastry with you and have dessert at your hotel room 😉 Otherwise I would recommend to have the tiramisu!

I had an amazing time and I’m going back for sure, since there’s even more to discover besides all the above.
Must say I was lucky to be invited to this trip,we  had the best guide or “guidefriendpartner” (inside joke 😉 ) and an amazing group of fellow bloggers. Thank you Eindhoven365 for this experience!

Bia Mara: not your ordinary Fish & Chips

Hi everyone! I’m back with a new Antwerp hot spot you should really check out…
Do you love fish & chips? Or have you always wanted to try but never did?
Bia Mara is the place to be!

The Bia Mara story
“Our story began at home, selling Mackerel on the streets of Dublin. The idea was simple, change fish & chips into something more creative using inventive ingredients and techniques to make it lighter than the traditional style.
Our journey brought us to Brussels for our first location and we found Belgian beer to be a perfect match for our creative fish and chips. We use as many different types of fish to help with the harmony of the ocean, based on what’s available and in season. We apply our recipes to interesting underrated swimming starlets.
Our aim is to deliver a tasty treat, consistently fresh with a real depth of flavour. Served with the right attitude from an amazing crew, we want you to leave ready to tell your friends about the “new skool” fish & chips concept! Our journey continues…”

From “regular” fish and chips to special crusts and sauces, they have it all!
I first got to know Bia Mara at a tasting a while ago, I loved it so much I promised myself I would go back for dinner some time. My (blogger) friend Stephanie from “Koken op hakken“, which literally means “cooking on heals”, and I met on a sunny evening to have some much needed quality time. 😉
IMG_2922 IMG_2925
We started out with their lemon and mint lemonade, which really is as delicious and refreshing as it sounds and looks like 😉
IMG_2835 IMG_2927
I ordered the Classic Panko Fish with Seaweed Salted Chips & Homemade Tartar.
The fish was so tasty, the chips were amazing and don’t get me started on the homemade tartar sauce… oh my god… honestly, this is the way to my heart for sure 😉
This all is served in reusable eco friendly wooden boxes.

We sat outside on the terrace, but the inside interior is also worth the while! So don’t be afraid to visit Bia Mara on a rainy day, their Fish & Chips will brighten up your day 😉

Tip: it’s right near the Cathedral and Grote Markt, so you can also discover a few of the most beautiful places in Antwerp while you’re at it ;-).

smile, there’s heavenly pizza!

“Smile, there’s heavenly pizza”
For the first time I’ll be sharing an Antwerp hotspot with you.
I haven’t done this before, but this one is definitely worth writing about 😉
When you follow me on instagram (which by the way you definitely should 😛 ) you’ve probably already seen my  mouthwatering pizza-pictures!
These were taken at Otomat, and YES the pizza was as delicious as it looked on picture 😉
Otomat or nOtomat? That’s the question!
Otomat pizza’s are with a tomato base and as you can already guess by now… nOtomat pizza’s not! 🙂
They have a very trendy menu, and the description makes everything on it sound delicious!
The Otomat pizza’s are inspired by traveling many country’s but it seems they have a Belgian twist.
With every pizza they have a beer-tip, so for the pizza- & beer-lovers this is a perfect combo ;-).
As you can see in the pictures my personal favorite drink is the hand made lemonade: lemon & rose.

My favorite pizza is the “Rocket & ham with a twist”! This is a tomato based pizza with rocket, raw ham and mozzarella cheese with a twist of lemon on top. But since I’m not the most easy client (oops) I got the mozzarella changed into Grana Padano, which is my all time favorite Parmesan cheese. But the people at Otomat are so friendly that this “tiny” change wasn’t a problem at all!
I’ve been there twice now and I’m that type of person that when I like something I tend to always order the same thing… So to break tradition: next on my list to try is the “with love from B.”
zitbank zaal
I’ve been there twice now and I’ve always sat on the terrace outside because we were so lucky to have good weather. But seriously, sitting inside wouldn’t be a punishment! Look at this amazing interior?!
And last but not least, how about a lovely Nutella-pizza for dessert?!
As you can see, at Otomat you are definitely in pizza-heaven 😉
